Our Mission

Friends of the Cape Cod National Seashore is the not-for-profit fundraising partner of the Cape Cod National Seashore; a partnership established in 1987 to help preserve, protect and enhance the fragile environment, visitor experience and unique cultural heritage of the park.

Our Impact


Friends of the Cape Cod National Seashore provides vital financial support and volunteer labor for Cape Cod National Seashore, one of the top 25 most visited parks in the National Park System. With over 43,000 acres in the towns of Chatham, Orleans, Eastham, Wellfleet, Truro & Provincetown, Cape Cod National Seashore includes nearly 40 miles of pristine coastline along the Atlantic-facing eastern shore of Cape Cod, along with  many critical environments and historic features.

The “Top 10”


Since 2010, Friends of the Cape Cod National Seashore has funded and supported these substantial projects and events for Cape Cod National Seashore:

 
 

• Close to $100,000 donated to fund shorebird interns that monitor several threatened and endangered species since 2021

• $75,000 raised to fund repairs of the Atlantic White Cedar Swamp Trail in Wellfleet

• $20,000 raised for critical improvements to maintain the health of freshwater ponds in Wellfleet, Truro & Provincetown including improved access

• $25,000 raised to support the renovation of Red Maple Swamp Trail in Eastham, was used to purchase a skid-steer loader, valuable to numerous projects within the park 

• Past co-sponsorship for Cape Cod Symphony Orchestra summer concerts at Salt Pond Visitor Center, and total financial sponsorship of the annual Science Symposium 

• Funded five new wayside exhibits for the Province Lands Bicycle Trail

• Provided financial support for painting and grounds improvements at the Captain Edward Penniman House

• Funded interior furnishings for the refurbished Old Harbor Life-Saving Station in Provincetown

• $25,000 provided funds to keep Province Lands Visitor Center open during the 2013 Federal budget sequestration, maintaining levels of service for interpretive programs.  

• More than thirteen years of sponsorship of the popular winter film series at Salt Pond Visitor Center
